About the Department
The department was established in 2008. Since its inception the faculty members, students and staff have developed the laboratories and other infrastructure.
Information Technology today, has demand in industry engaged in IT enabled systems, information management and entrepreneurship resource management systems. The course of information technology typically covers the background of software, networking and associated computer hardware. In addition, database management, operating systems and embedded systems also form the integral part of Information Technology.
An engineering student opting for Information Technology course undergoes a general engineering background during the first year. In the forthcoming years the course is more specialized to cover the syllabus more relevant to Information technology. Industry value additions are also part of our teaching learning process in our department at DACOE Karad.
The department is well equipped with computer laboratories containing the latest configuration computers, scanner, printers and supporting softwares. These laboratories are fully networked using LAN and connected to internet.
Intake to this course is 60 students. The department has qualified and experienced staff. The progress of the students is continuously monitored. Typically continuous assessment of the performance is judged through class tests, orals, practicals. Attendance is monitored on a day to day basis and monthly reports are sent to parents. Students are encouraged to present papers, attend workshops and participate in technical contests arranged at state and national level. Further, students are motivated to participate in the extra curricular activities such as sports, drama, dance, music. Many of our students have brought glory to the department by bagging prizes in different competitions.

In recent years, speedy, effective and global communication has created a new foundation for co-operation and team work, both nationally and internationally. The increasing role played by information technology in the development of society calls for an active reaction to the challenges of the information society .These challenges need to be met for satisfying the society needs. Our aim is to produce students having clear conceptual ideas in the area of information technology and information sciences. We are trying to bridge the gap between industry and the academics by concentrating more on practicals and association with industries.
There are many researches going on in the field of information technology in the areas like security, image processing, networking, communication etc., which are covered in the syllabus prescribed by the Shivaji University Kolhapur. These recent advancements all aim to make India a superpower it is the duty of the budding citizens to develop their logic and try to make the dream come true. |
